It sounds plausible, though needs a lot more evidence than that single source.

Of course, even if proven, that would whip the LGBTQ+ community into a rage, because "you are trying to kill our identity with hormonal meds!!!!" The issue of insurance would come up, too. Why would a transition be covered if a much cheaper option of taking meds that "treat" the underlying gender dysphoria is available. There is also a bit of a misleading statement "once the underlying dysfunction is corrected”, if "corrected" means "taking a life-long medication that changes your natural hormonal balance and causes unknown and potentially dangerous side effects".

(fyi, downvoted because while the ideas in the comment seemed true and relevant, I felt a vague sense of doom around the way it was phrased, which seemed likely to play into the usual bad culture war dynamics)
