Hey!

Here's our meetup schedule through January 2021, other meetups may be scheduled too, but these are happening for sure. All meetups are virtual unless specifically mentioned otherwise.

27 October 2020: Tuesday evening 5:30pm-8:30pm CDT

5 November 2020: Thursday evening 5:30pm-8:30pm CST

17 November 2020: Tuesday evening 5:30pm-8:30pm CST

3 December 2020: Thursday evening 5:30pm-8:30pm CST

15 December 2020: Tuesday evening 5:30pm-8:30pm CST

7 January 2021: Thursday evening 5:30pm-8:30pm CST

19 January 2021: Tuesday evening 5:30pm-8:30pm CST

If y'all want to have additional meetups on other days please let me know, I'm happy to schedule and facilitate more meetups including more formal ones (e.g. debates a la adversarial collaborations, meetups with multiple or longer talks given during them, rigorous discussions on a specific topic, etc.)

(I am posting this message without edits on each of the following platforms, that's why you'll still see "Did you know that we have a group on X platform" even if you're viewing the message on X platform)

Did you know that we have a group on LessWrong? Go there and subscribe to the group to receive updates whenever a new group post or event is created! https://www.lesswrong.com/groups/pwitck4YZQsnXYp9q [? · GW]

Did you know that we have a Discord server? Here's an invite! https://discord.gg/FBSZ2Wn (this link will expire after 10 uses, if you try to join and the link has expired, please message me or leave a comment)

Did you know that we have a Facebook group? Here it is: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1816070091838828

Did you know that we have a Google Group? You can view it and request membership here: https://groups.google.com/g/houston-rationalists/about The email address associated with the group is houston-ra...@googlegroups.com

Send me stuff! I want to know what topics y'all are interested in, articles, books, etc. that y'all recommend, other resources y'all recommend, proposals y'all have for talks, discussions, adversarial collaborations (debates), etc. etc. etc.

This will help me quite a bit when organizing our meetups and will also mean something that you're interested in will get some coverage or discussion during a meetup. Why do you think I've started adding human life extension as a topic? Because that's what I'm interested in! It is also a broadly interesting topic for most LessWrong, SSC, EA, etc. affiliated individuals, so that helps too. What are you interested in, dear reader?

I hope y'all are safe and doing well! Let me know how you've been :)

Cheers,

Willa
