You say that the struggle between a rabbit and a fox is conflicting, but it is not, this struggle is the point of evolution it is not random or even organized it is beyond that I cannot explain it, my point however is that what seems cruel and ugly is really species helping one another become better. Look at most predators they do not go for the strongest of the prey the go for the weak and easy targets, humans see this as cruel when in fact it is helping to further that species, with the weak and sick killed off future generations will not be hindered by weak genes or genes that have become negative do to environmental changes. The best way to put it is evolution unlike humanity learns from mistakes made in the past and improves upon the weak areas, evolution is an artist who is working on his masterpiece trying to find every last little thing and make it perfect.
