How would this principle of truth apply to questions that are not about natural world? Say, ethics, politics, philosophy?

Is it fair to say that an ethical idea deserves attention if it was questioned well, given enough opportunity to fail, and withstood all that? And the contrapositive of it: if an idea is not being questioned and people who try to do that are prosecuted and bullied by the followers of the idea, then the idea is worth opposing?
