Type 1 processes provide judgments quickly, but these judgments are often wrong, and can be overridden by corrective Type 2 processes.
This might be the picking-on-small-details-and-feeling-important me, but I really think this is terribly oversimplified. It implies that Type 1 is basically your enemy, or that is what it feels like to me. Truth to be told, Type 1 is extremely handy to you as it prevents combinatorial explosion in how you experience reality. I think Type 1 is actually mostly great, because I am really happy that I just pick up a cup when I am making myself a coffee and I don't spend 30 minutes analysing which cup has a picture that is more aligned with my current mood and goes well with the T-shirt I am wearing.
I think that it is good not to get too stressed about this. You can just buy a laptop that looks nice without deeply analysing the HW, comparing 20 other laptops etc., although it is not the optimal thing to do. But then again, who would ever buy an Apple if we were all being rational? :-)
