I appreciate this.

I chose to see it as a hopeful story—one of reaching, striving, and overcoming. It may represent one of the best possible versions of the future, and of course there are countless ways in which things could go wrong. It assumes much and hopes for even more. But the vision it paints, to me, is beautiful.

And the idea of looking back at one’s former self, seeing where you came from, recognizing how you did the best you could with what you had.. that carries a quiet kind of forgiveness. That doesn’t require future technology, it’s something each of us could try right now.
