There are studies, and studies of studies, showing that exposure to various PFAS chemicals are positively correlated with weight gain. I really think PFAS is the culprit. The extent that many municipal water systems are contaminated with PFAS has only recently been coming to light. People have been taking in a lot more PFAS contamination than they realize.
