This will be our second Buenos Aires LessWrong meetup. Our nominal discussion topic will be cognitive biases, though we'll keep things flexible so that the conversation can move naturally towards other topics of interest and relevance. If you read and like this blog. and live in BA or just happen to be visiting the city, do join us. It will be a great opportunity to meet like-minded folks in the area. We will be sitting upstairs; a copy of Greg Egan's Diaspora will be displayed at our table.

The meetup was a success! It was attended by María José Toriggia, Ariel Futoransky, Pablo Stafforini (benthamite), Marcelo Rinesi (mrinesi), and Federico Stafforini. Here is a picture of the event (participants are depicted, from left to right, in the order listed above).
If you'd like to stay abreast of future meetups in the area, please contact me or Marcelo.

One of the things that always amuses me about looking at LW meetup photos is how easy it is to come up with little stories about the people in them. For example, your photo:
This is clearly a group shot of the BIXI team in youthful happy days, before they formed the corporation and set out to create a computable AIXI - before Maria left Federico for little Ariel, before Pablo confronted Marcelo whose sinister ambitions drove them onward to a goal only he seemed to see & fled into fearful hiding, before that hubris doomed them all, before they fought and conspired in the ruins of a shattered world to invoke the final safeguard mechanism in BIXI...
Well, you see what I mean.

This is possibly the weirdest LessWrong comment I ever read. I'm not sure whether that's good or bad; but it made me laugh, so it's probably good overall.

What book is that, in the photo?

Sorry for the delay. It's Greg Egan's Diaspora, the book we displayed to help attendees find us.
