Last month, about 20 people showed up to the Berkeley LW meet-up. To continue the tradition of Berkeley Meetups, we will be meeting on Saturday, December 11 Friday, December 10 at 7 PM at the Starbucks at 2128 Oxford Street. Last time, we chatted at the Starbucks for about 45 minutes, then went to get dinner and ate and talked under a T-Rex skeleton - we'll probably do something similar, so don't feel like you have to eat before you come. Hope to see you there!
ETA: Some people are unavailable on Saturday, do people have a strong preference for Saturday? If no one does, I'll move it to Friday. Due to two votes for Friday and none for Saturday, I have changed the date to Friday.

It's now at the Valley Life Sciences Building at Berkeley.
(Suggestion: when a meetup moves, someone should post a comment with the new location, to help people who can't or don't know how to contact someone there.)

I'll try to make it, though other plans have a way of materializing on Saturday evenings. First LW meetup for me; what should I expect?

The format of the event is in the OP, and most of the meat of a Meet-Up revolves around discussing whatever catches our fancy. What you can expect depends largely on which conversations you join. I have never been unable to find one I wanted to be in. Don't worry that you don't have a PhD, no one else does, and we tend to care far more about the process of pleasurable conversation than measuring everyone's LW credentials.

I will try my darnedest to be there, although this is literally the worst day of the entire month for me.

This holds for me as well.

Would Friday work better? Also, does anyone else have a preference between Friday and Saturday?
