I got two notifications about replies to my comment on Valentine's "Kensho" post (one reply by Qiaochu_Yuan and one by Valentine.) I can read the replies, but I cannot reply to them, and when I open the original post I don't see the replies under my own comment. Help?

You most likely do not see the new replies because by default a post only polls the first 100 of comments, so if your comment came after the 100th comment it won't appear until you click "load more" at the top of the comment section.
It's not clear how best to handle this from a dev perspective, esp. how to handle it easily that wouldn't turn into a fairly signficant project.
One option is to simply load all comments, and then the page get increasingly slow to load. Maybe this is fine - maybe if a page has 200 comments it should just take awhile?
An easy option, probably an improvement but feels like solving the wrong problem, is to make a much larger warning appear (both at the top of comments, bottom of comments, and maybe comment editor?) warning that you'll need to load all comments into order to see new ones you submit.
The ideal option somehow autoloads comments over a hundred in the background. I'm not sure how easy it is to set that up.

Thanks or the explanation! I think it would be nice if any comment that has replies which were not loaded would appear with some kind of button that says "load replies" or something similar, so that you know this comment has replies you don't currently see.

Yeah, I agree that this would be better. This just requires a bunch of annoying engineering effort we haven't gotten around to.
