This hackathon will explore near-term Transformative AI scenarios to identify and evaluate existing and possible future institutions or coordination architectures for the safe and beneficial development of transformative AI technologies.
We invite leading researchers, funders, and builders in AI, social sciences, economics, mechanism design, game theory, systems thinking, and other relevant areas to prototype new institutions and coordination mechanisms for flourishing AI futures.
FORMAT:
This is a two-day hackathon where participants will create prototype solutions to AI challenges, with a special focus on formats for new institutions. The program will host up to 45 participants, who will be supported by experienced mentors.
Before the event begins, participants will receive a list of suggested readings and will be asked to complete a survey that covers the potential benefits of AI, forthcoming challenges in the field, and the effectiveness of existing institutions in governing AI.
At the end of the hackathon, the prototypes will be unveiled, and a Development Grant winner will be announced, which includes an opportunity for further development and implementation of their idea. A report summarizing the hackathon’s results will also be produced.
