Yeah I did saw that update from the superalignment team and it was the very reason I unearthed this draft I made a month ago. I might try to apply for a fast grant for this one, especially I have a working GPT-2XL that is more coherent than the base version [LW · GW] - in theory it will generate better results, than the one cited by OpenAI.
