Let's get together investigate/discuss the overlap between Applied Rationality and housing affordability, also called urbanism or YIMBYism.
Although not an officially affiliated event, I'll be posting/advertising this event in the More Neighbours Discord server. They have been directing me to housing advocacy opportunities over the last few years, so hopefully we'll see some new faces with new ideas!
Recommended Readings
Don't read all of these! Just choose whatever one seems interesting to you.
- The economic argument for density Why American Cities Are Broke - The Growth Ponzi Scheme from Not Just Bikes and Strong Towns
- The Land Value Tax to encourage using land efficiently Book Review: Progress And Poverty
- Zoning forbids building dense homes in certain areas. If abolishing zoning is politically unfeasible, make it opt-out/opt-in. Houston, we have a solution
- Canada requires more than one stair/egress for multi-family homes and that makes them unaffordable. A Wicked Problem
Still attend if you haven't done the readings! They are a conversational starting point and sub-groups always end up forming.
Location
Enter the Mars Atrium via University Avenue entrance. We'll meet at the food court in the basement. I'll be wearing a bright neon yellow jacket.
Detailed Directions to the Food Court
Enter from University Avenue and walk west until you see escalators. Take the escalators down. The food court is to the west of the escalators. If you are lost/confused, ask a security guard to direct you to the food court.

I forgot my neon yellow jacket, so look for a black baseball cap instead.
