London Rationalist Meetups bikeshed painting thread

Something that came up on each of our three meetups so far was that people want more participation on things like format, place, and meeting times.

Currently these are:

But these were just the first point we hit in the optimization space. They work, but that doesn't mean there isn't something that could work better.

So everyone who wants to discuss them, here's the place.

I'd like to get to one of these, but London is a bit of a step for me from Norwich, so only weekends are practical, and preferably a Sunday. In other words, exactly the arrangements so far. I would have come last time, but on the day I was just too tired from earlier exertions.

I expect to be taking a holiday for part of August, but not actually going away anywhere, so I would be able to synchronise with the dates CannibalSmith offered.

One, probably not very useful, possibility is of course to turn up at the Subgenius party I'm running. It'll be loud and noisy and not particularly rational (after all, most of the point is to highlight irrationality by mocking and exaggerating it), but fun and weird.

Personally I'm far too busy to meet anywhere else before that though. And indeed, I'll be busy all night long at the show too, up on stage for five minutes out of every hour introducing the acts etc.

Still. You're all invited anyway.

Thanks, I think it shall be one of the best End Of The World Shows we've ever done. And this is at least number twelve :)

For anyone who's never done it, I thoroughly recommend climbing on a soap-box in silly clothes and ranting a load of nonsense at speakers corner like you're an insane nutcase. Liberating for it to be so obvious for a change.

I would prefer a weekday.

I've never been actively part of an online community before, so I'm a bit scared to come along. I do find this group interesting though, so I might come to the next meetup.

I don't mind the place as long as it's quiet, but prefer the format to be casual. Except for Tuesday, any day of the week is fine by me.

And I quote myself:

How about the evening of Wed Aug 19, Thu Aug 20, Tue Aug 25, or Wed Aug 26? Or are weekdays out of the question?

Weekend afternoons prefered (if there's no extrobrittania meeting on) but I can normally make any weekday evening except Thursday.

If people want weekdays, I'm fine with that. My assumption was that more people would be free on weekends.

I've booked the tickets. I arrive on Tuesday night (Aug 18), leave on Thursday afternoon (Aug 27).
