Programming note: This meetup takes place at a different time and place than usual!
This week, we're heading to a working farm 15 minutes outside Waterloo to learn about medicinal herbs. The learning circle starts at 6:30.
Find out more about it here: https://www.halfmoonherbals.com/2021herbcsa
I haven't been before and I also honestly don't know that much about plants, so I suspect that it'll be a learning experience for all of us. I've heard only good things about Nikola, who runs the farm, however :-)
I've sent her an email so she knows to expect a large group from us.
Logistics for Going There
If you are arranging your own transportation: meet us at Fertile Ground Farm
(1560 Carmel-Koch Rd, St. Agatha, ON N0B 2L0) at 6:30.
If you need a ride: Meet inside The Shops at Waterloo Town Square - we will congregate in the seating area with the trees sticking out in the middle of the benches next to the Valu-Mart at 6:00pm. At 6:15, we'll head out the entrance closest to the Valu Mart and carpool up to the farm.
Other Stuff You Need to Know
Price: $30 suggested donation, or pay what you can. No one's turned away due to cost. Trades welcome!
What to bring:
- Water bottle
- Sun hat
- Notebook
- Pen or pencil
- Basket or cloth bag for harvesting
- Garden gloves (optional)
Instructions upon arriving: Drive or bike in past the house and loop right, following the driveway towards the wash-station. Park with the other cars and walk towards the greenhouses to find us in the herb garden!
To note: This is a working farm, so be mindful of the veggie beds (try to stay on the grass unless you're in the herb garden) and be aware of the occasional tractor moving about.
Programming note...2!: Jenn will be out of town June 22nd and 29th! Now is a good time to think of if there's a KWR meetup you want to run soon. Which is of course not to say that you can't run any when I'm in town; you should definitely try to think of meetups at all other times too.
