It doesn't feel like those are appropriate for the front page, they're too transient; but it'd be nice to have a place to put them instead. What are folks' thoughts on this?

In the long run there will be a whole community section of the page, which also includes a rework of the meet up map and stuff. Until then, I think those things are best posted off LesserWrong.com

Is there a better solution? We don't want to make it significantly harder for groups to form for the next X months as X could be a very long time. Perhaps we could have a monthly meetups post?

Well, we do still have the old site. What is the cost of currently only having stuff available there?
