I've been trying to research somatic experiencing therapy, and all I've been able to find out is that nobody says it's a scam. I'm at the point now where it's the best option I can find for my goal. Can you expound on why it's probably helpful for this or for trauma?

Yes, definitely. It's very much a question of someone's situation whether they have additional persons or they need to find some.

Does the secretary problem say anything about getting the second-best match? That seems to be the crux and this is the counter-argument I'm most swayed by.

It's definitely more than money. But it's all stuff that's easier with two humans than one.
