I'd really like to agree with this article. It'd be great to live in a more "civilised" world, and the best way to make that a reality is to behave in a "civilised" manner.

Yet I still have niggling doubts, which I was reminded of when I encountered this quote:

"If fascism could be defeated in debate, I assure you that it would never have happened, neither in Germany, nor in Italy, nor anywhere else."
