Really nice story, is the Redaction Machine a metaphor for sleep? I've often seen people argue that the person who went to bed isn't the one who wakes the next day. So I just read your whole story as a Carpe Diem injunction.

I'm new here and I have a question. If an overly intelligent person holds/displays meta-contrarian views in a group without deliberately trying to announce are they still signalling?

Also isn't First World/Third World an outdated classification?
